Neutral Milk Hotel

Athens, Georgia-based Neutral Milk Hotel is/was songwriter Jeff Mangum, drummer Jeremy Barnes, horn player Scott Spillane and banjo/bass/guitar/etc.-player Julian Koster. They released their last album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, in 1998; and though they still work together in various capacities it remains to be seen if there will ever be another collaborative album in the same spirit.

In the Aeroplane received rave reviews, and in 2005 was re-released by Domino Records in the UK to the praise of, among others, Franz Ferdinand and Arcade Fire who cite the album as a source of inspiration. The same year a book was published detailing the story behind the album’s creation and providing some background biographical information. Their music continues to spread via word of mouth online and off. Far be it for me to stand in the way — included below is the last track from their last album, and links to other content online.
