Galaxies in Love

I think the bottom one is more into the top one than vice versa but such is love. The pair is known as Arp 87 and are flirting just 92 million parsecs (300 million light-years) away. Image released today at HubbleSite.

Brandi Carlile

Brandi Carlile has one of the more beautiful voices I’ve heard in a while. In 2004 she was signed by Columbia Records based on recordings she had been making off and on from home. The following year she was featured in Rolling Stone’s 10 Artists to Watch in 2005.

The track included below was recorded during a 11-day marathon session, and Brandi’s voice cracks near the end due to the intensity of the process. She describes the vocals in the recording as “technically wrong but emotionally right”.

P.S. New readers: all music posted on this site is available in the podcast.
