Creating an information-dense map of one of the biggest and most complex cities in the world is not exactly easy. “If you look at any one of these information kiosks, they look simple, confident and clear,” [Michael Bierut, partner at Pentagram] says. “But if you actually start to imagine what goes into what you’re looking at, it’s really, really complicated.” (…)

“We sort of made this commitment to do a ‘more is more’ thing,” Bierut said. “There’s so much information on these things. As opposed to trying to be reductive, we just tried to keep adding and seeing how much we could withstand on them.”
