I’ll post more on the logistics of moving an 8-year-old blog and all its content and comments from WordPress to Tumblr soon, which is actually a little harder than it sounds given Tumblr’s API limitations.
But in the meantime, help me in bidding farewell to the sometimes-buggy-but-usually-loveable WordPress site that first introduced me to the joys of blogging and building websites: Centripetal Notion.
The third TV commercial for BRAVIA is the most ambitious piece of stop-motion animation ever undertaken. Devised by Fallon and shot over three weeks in New York, the commercial employed 40 animators from Passion and used 2.5 tonnes of modeling material.

These are strange times indeed. While they continue to command so much attention in the mainstream media, the ‘battles’ between old and new modes of distribution, between the pirate and the institution of copyright, seem to many of us already lost and won. We know who the victors are. Why then say any more?
Because waves of repression continue to come: lawsuits are still levied against innocent people; arrests are still made on flimsy pretexts, in order to terrify and confuse; harsh laws are still enacted against filesharing, taking their place in the gradual erosion of our privacy and the bolstering of the surveillance state. All of this is intended to destroy or delay inexorable changes in what it means to create and exchange our creations. If STEAL THIS FILM II proves at all useful in bringing new people into the leagues of those now prepared to think ‘after intellectual property’, think creatively about the future of distribution, production and creativity, we have achieved our main goal.
DVD, iPod and HD Video formats are available for free via Bit Torrent at the film’s website. Some pretty interesting commentary on the economics of new media.
W+K/Psyop bring a sequel to last year’s beautiful Happiness Factory advertisement for Coca-Cola. This time around it’s 3 minutes long, apparently clips of it will appear as TV spots which plug Coke’s website to watch the full thing. It debuted in Second Life last week. Check out the HD version on Coke’s website or you’re doing it disservice.

This movie looks sick. Using motion capture the actors’ movements are recorded, including eye-lid flutters via electrooculography, enabling the entire movie to be live acted yet completely computer animated. It will be simultaneously released in traditional theaters and IMAX 3D.
IMAX lends itself to the incredible image detail in Beowulf and in 3D, it will transport the audience directly into the story.
